Help, when you need it.
Brio is a one-person operation. Real human replies, no chat-bot maze. Most questions are answered below — anything else, send an email and we'll get back to you.
Frequently asked questions
How do I start my first Shield session?
Open Brio. On the Shield tab, tap Shield Up. Pick your blocked apps in the system picker, choose a duration, toggle which alternatives count toward your unlock meter (Read, Write, Move, Scroll), and tap Start. Brio drops you straight into the alternatives until the timer ends.
Why isn't my app being blocked?
Brio needs Screen Time permission to block apps. On iPhone, open Settings → Screen Time and confirm it is on. Return to Brio and re-grant access if prompted.
If a specific app is missing from the picker, it may not be eligible for Screen Time blocking on iOS — that's an Apple-level restriction, not a Brio one. If the issue persists, fully quit Brio (swipe up in the app switcher) and reopen, or restart the phone.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by Brio. On your iPhone:
Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Brio → Cancel Subscription.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep premium access until then.
How do I restore my purchase after reinstalling?
Open Brio → Settings (gear icon on the Shield tab) → Restore Purchases. As long as you are signed in to the same Apple ID that bought the subscription, your premium access returns immediately.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and request a refund for the Brio purchase. Apple makes the final call — Brio cannot issue refunds directly.
How do I request data deletion?
Brio stores your data on your device only — there is no cloud account, no server-side database of usage. Deleting the app from your iPhone deletes everything: blocking choices, journal entries, reading progress, score history.
If you've contacted support and want any record of that correspondence deleted (or have any other GDPR/CCPA-style request), email [email protected]. We will respond and act within 30 days.
I forgot — what does Brio actually do?
Brio is an iPhone app blocker that gives you something to do. When you raise a Shield, Brio blocks the apps you picked and pulls you straight into a productive alternative — a book, a journal, a walk, or a calmer reels feed. A daily Focus Score (0–100) tracks your progress.
For the long version, see the homepage.
Can I use Brio on iPad or Mac?
Not yet. Brio is iPhone-only at launch (iOS 17.0 or later). iPad and Mac support are on the long-term list, not the short one.
